30 days of happiness - day 28

30 days of happiness day 28
Happiness is:
A foggy morning, a cedar log bench hubby is making, and silence.

We cannot find God in noise and agitation.

Nature: trees, flowers, and grass grow in silence. The stars, the moon, and the sun move in silence.

What is essential is not what we say but what God tells us and what He tells others through us.

In silence He listens to us; in silence He speaks to our souls. In silence we are granted the privilege of listening to His voice.

      Silence of our eyes.
      Silence of our ears.
      Silence of our mouths.
      Silence of our minds.
...in the silence of the heart
      God will speak.

Amen!
"God's glory is on tour in the skies, God-craft on exhibit across the horizon. Madame Day holds classes every morning, Professor Night lectures each evening.
Their words aren't heard, their voices aren't recorded, But their silence fills the earth; unspoken truth is spoken everywhere." Psalm 19 (The Message)
Thanks, Kat, for the reminder! I've been in Wyoming away from the internet for the past week. Great to catch up with you. Especially enjoyed your Farmers Market entry. I did read the interview with Wendell Berry. I've read his books "A Place on Earth" and "The Memory of Old Jack." I have Eugene Peterson, the author of The Message (paraphrase/translation of the Bible) quoted above, to thank for introducing me to Wendell Berry years ago. Good thoughts about local geography, place, and community.

Jason is SO talented at crafting things from wood. If you have extra wood, you should build one up and sell it on ebay or something. Seriously, that thing is beautiful.

Val, Madame Day and Professor Night - I like that! Good to hear from you. Yes, Wendell Berry is great. So much wisdom.

K, the funny thing is that bench is just in the beginning stages. I love the primitive look it has right now but however he finishes it, it's going to be awesome like everything else he makes!

Really nice saying about God. Yes you were absolutely true that He listens to us; in silence He speaks to our souls. In silence we are granted the privilege of listening to His voice. And this is really what I believed that “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in all of us. And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. ”
